In this very interesting podcast created by en(gender)ed, police officer Angie Rivers details how she experienced and witnessed sexual harassment and gender discrimination while working as a police officer. She was surrounded by a negative work culture that encouraged gossip and created a sexually charged atmosphere. This not only affects those who work within the police force but also victims of sexual assault and harassment whose complaints are not believed, minimized and/or ignored.
She brought a claim against her previous employer for sexual harassment and discrimination and has been campaigning for reform on behalf of all female officers, many of whom have had similar negative experiences.
